This unit is responsible with waste management, hygiene and sanitation. Before new division of departments and units in Local Government Authority 2022, waste management
and sanitation unit previously known as Sanitation and Environment department which established in 2013.
The main functions of this unit are;
Prepare short and long term plans and programs for west management and sanitation;
Interpret and supervise implementation of policies, laws and procedures on provision of waste management and sanitation service;
(Coordinate training on waste management and sanitation issues;
Coordinate and supervise waste management and sanitation projects;
Supervise implementation of waste management and sanitation contracts;
Create awareness on hygiene and sanitary issue in communities and public facilities.
Develop techniques for waste management and sanitation issues.
Develop and manage database on waste management and sanitation.
